Team Tobacco Free - Ideas for Red Ribbon Week Activities

NIMCO, Inc. Encourages Red Ribbon Week Activities

Over the next few weeks leading up to Red Ribbon Week 2013, NIMCO will be sharing some activity ideas on our blog that teachers and community leaders can use to help students get excited about Red Ribbon Week. Many of these ideas can be incorporated in your school leading up to Red Ribbon Week.

Our 15th entry is entitled: Team Tobacco Free
Tobacco Free, Red Ribbon Week, Red Ribbon Week 2013, Red Ribbon Week Activities
Tobacco Free for Red Ribbon Week

The goal for Red Ribbon Week is to create awareness about drugs and their negative influence. Many people forget tobacco is a drug and it needs to be incorporated into RRW activities.

• Students create displays showing why tobacco is a drug. Show pictures and facts about tobacco use and effects on the body.

• Calculate the cost of smoking or dipping over a month, year, 2 years, etc. Think of what else you could do with that money.

• Short of Breath Relay to simulate emphysema or other respiratory disease caused by smoking (use coffee straws, regular size straws, or both).

TODAY’S MESSAGE
“Stay Clear of Tobacco! Clear Mind! Clean Body!”

Head over to our website for more Red Ribbon Week information and Tobacco Free products. We also have a page dedicated to the National 2013 Red Ribbon Week Theme "A Healthy Me is Drug Free!" where you can purchase many different promotional items that you can use and pass out to students during Red Ribbon Week Oct. 23-31st.
