NIMCO, Inc. Encourages Red Ribbon Week Activities
Over the next few weeks leading up to Red Ribbon Week 2013, NIMCO will be sharing some activity ideas on our blog that teachers and community leaders can use to help students get excited about Red Ribbon Week. Many of these ideas can be incorporated in your school leading up to Red Ribbon Week.
Red Ribbon Week is not just for schools. Encourage the youth by getting families and communities together to celebrate Red Ribbon Week. It is a great opportunity for us to remind adults that it is important to communicate with our youth and be involved in their lives. Adults are the most influential factor in a child’s life.
• Hold a meeting to discuss drugs and drug use. Develop an agreement about drug use within the family and community and have all members sign it.
• Offer red food & drinks: fruit (apples, strawberries, watermelon), tomato juice or soup, spaghetti, pizza, candy, red popsicles, red frosted cupcakes, fruit punch, and so on.
• Activities – fun run, bike-a-thon, volleyball, basketball, games, or contests.
